A family trade, now online

ASA Rugs comes from a rug-trading family tradition that began in the 1960s in Andkhoy, northern Afghanistan. For generations, rugs were not business inventory, they were part of everyday life inside our homes.

Today we continue the same work, selecting rugs directly and offering them online so customers can access authentic pieces without showroom markups.

When you order from ASA Rugs, you receive the exact rug shown in the photos, clearly identified as hand-knotted, hand-woven, kilim, or machine-made, and carefully inspected before shipping.

Support is also available if you need help choosing the right size or style. If requested, we can show the rug by video before dispatch.

Handmade and practical options

Homes are different, so we offer both handmade rugs, including hand-knotted and hand-woven pieces, as well as kilims, and machine-made rugs designed for everyday living.

Our role is not to push the most expensive option, but to help select the right rug for your space.

Where we operate

ASA Rugs currently operates online and serves customers in South Africa, while preparing to expand to Europe in the near future.

We communicate directly with customers, and you are always welcome to contact us before purchasing if you would like advice or additional photos.

Why we do this

A rug should feel personal, not mass-produced. By keeping sourcing small and transparent, we aim to maintain the connection between the maker and the home where the rug ends up.

Questions are always welcome before purchase.
